At the beginning of the War, the Special Post Service was evacuating significant documents to rearward areas of the country and providing delivery of correspondence to the military units and government agencies.
During the postwar years, demands to the Special Post Service were expanded: obligations of the Special Post were expanded, new documents were drawn up, existent documents were amended, delivery geography was considerably widened, and volumes of mail were expanded.
During the years of independence of Ukraine, work of the Special Post Service changed. As of today, functions of Special Post are performed by State Enterprise of Special Post, which includes 25 units: the Crimean Republican Branch of Special Post, 23 Branches of Special Post at all the regions of Ukraine, and the First Armed Guard Detachment of the 1st category in Kyiv.
State Enterprise of Special Post participates in providing Special Post services for the most significant events of the country such as elections, nationwide referendums, general secondary education tests, etc.
Since 1991, the Enterprise has been providing services on sending EMS mail to 189 countries worldwide. Since 2004, the Enterprise is a permanent member of the UPU EMS Cooperative. In 2008 and 2009, it received the Bronze EMS Performance Awards; in 2010, it received the EMS Customer Care Award from the EMS Cooperative.
Since 2000, the Enterprise has been providing services on guardianship for postal service facilities.
Since 2005, it has been providing licensed services related to guarding of state assets and other kinds of property.
For more than 70 years, the staff of the Special Post was gaining invaluable expertise of cooperation with various customers. It enabled the Enterprise to take an important place at the postal services market.
